Have you ever been searching online for the perfect piece of furniture to have in your home?Couch. Dinning room table. Rocking chair. Or bed frame? You find it. You love it. It goes into your shopping cart. You go through all the steps; credit card info and shipping information. Then comes a little voice. That’s a lot of money. You could find something cheaper. You could maybe even make that. Should I really buy this?…. But i LOVE it! Look no further. This is your answer.
A beautiful hand made bed from pine. This gorgeous blonde wood makes for a classy and clean look that draws your eye, but doesn’t steel the attention from out of the room.

Or- Build it here:
Step one:
Figure out the dimensions of your mattress. We used a Queen bed for this one, and it sits 24 inches off the ground. All of your measurements will be off of the mattress and the height you want the bed to be. Get out the measuring tape!
This is the design layout we used (the very talented Silas thought of this)

Step two:
Go buy your wood! I live in Seattle, and chose to shop at Dunn Lumber. (<– add link) They have great service and amazing lumber products. Try using a local lumber yard instead of a corporate one- it will add to your building experience!
I bought (go into detail of the measurements of wood and how many of each piece)
INSERT PIC OF ALL WOOD TOGETHER
Step three:
Now that you have all of your wood, go a head and lay the pieces out on your work space and try and see your frame visually. It won’t be perfect because you still need to cut your pieces… but as you cut each piece one by one, once it’s cut, lay it back down at the place where it came from. I found out that labeling the piece with a pencil helped a lot. ie: Lower foot board 67.5 inches. This way you know exactly what each piece is- it helps.
Step four:
Start cutting! I like starting with the outside perimeter, then moving in from there. Remember: Label!
Step five:
Once all the pieces were cut and we could lay them out perfectly without being screwed in, we moved all of the wood into the actual bedroom the frame was going to live in. We had the space to do, so we thought it would make life easier instead of assembling the whole thing outside, and then moving it indoors. I must say, it was a GREAT idea.
We laid all of the wood out on the floor in the position it would be in as if it were finished.
Step six:
Start screwing everything into place! Again, we started from the outside and moved our way in. This way our bed frame was being built evenly.
